Classroom timer questions, answered.
Is the classroom timer free? Do I need to log in?
Yes. The classroom timer is free and works without logging in, using AI credits, or creating a lesson plan first.
What is the difference between countdown and stopwatch?
A countdown runs from the time you set down to zero and can play a sound when it ends. A stopwatch counts up from zero until you pause it, with no end time and no sound.
Can I use the timer silently?
Yes. Turn off End sound in the timer settings. When the countdown ends the screen shows “Time’s up” without playing anything.
Can I display the timer to the class?
Yes. Choose Present for a view with only the activity name, the time and the controls. It goes full screen where the browser allows it, and still works as a focused view where it does not.
What happens if I switch browser tabs?
The timer keeps the right time, because it is worked out from the moment it ends rather than counted second by second. The end sound still plays while the browser is running, though a browser that has suspended the tab may play it late or not at all.
Will the end sound play if my device sleeps or the browser closes?
No. A sleeping device or a closed browser cannot play the sound. When you come back the timer shows “Time’s up”, and it does not play a sound that is more than a few seconds late.
Are the activity name, settings, and progress saved?
No. Nothing is stored. Refreshing the page, leaving and coming back, or changing language returns the timer to a five-minute countdown.
Does the timer work without an internet connection?
A timer that is already open keeps running if the connection drops. Opening or refreshing the page still needs a connection.
What countdown durations can I set?
Any length from 1 second to 180 minutes, entered as minutes and seconds. The quick buttons set 1, 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes.
How do adding time, Reset, and Start again work?
Add 1 minute extends the countdown that is running or paused. Reset stops the timer and returns to the duration you set. Start again begins a new round at that duration, without the minutes added last time.
